This Privacy Policy describes how Asa? ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Asa? mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
ABOUT THE APP
Asa? is an inventory management application that allows users to organize items into locations and buckets, capture item images, use voice-based search, and manage inventory with subscription-based features.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Account Information
When you register, we collect:
- First name and last name
- Email address
- Password (stored in hashed form; we never store plain-text passwords)
- Username
If you sign in using Google, we receive a Google ID token to verify your identity. We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, photos, or any other Google data beyond what is needed to confirm your identity.
Inventory Data
When you use the App, we collect and store:
- Names, descriptions, quantities, and tags for the items you create
- Names and descriptions of locations and buckets you organize items into
- Photos you capture or upload for items, locations, and buckets
- Item status information (e.g., checked-out, returned, archived)
Device Information
We collect limited device information to identify your session and support account security:
- A persistent device identifier generated by the App (not your IMEI, UDID, or advertising ID)
- Device brand and model
- Operating system platform (iOS or Android)
Usage and Subscription Data
We collect information about your subscription plan and feature usage, including:
- Active subscription status, plan tier, and renewal dates
- Counts of active, archived, and total items in your account
- Usage of plan-gated features (background removal, similar item search, QR code generation, voice search)
Voice and Speech Data
When you use the voice search feature, the App activates your device microphone to capture audio and convert it to text using your device's built-in speech recognition framework (Apple Speech Recognition on iOS, Android SpeechRecognizer on Android). This processing happens on your device. The resulting text query is then sent to our servers to perform the search. We do not record, store, or transmit raw audio data.
PERMISSIONS WE REQUEST
The App requests the following device permissions:
Camera
Purpose: To photograph items, buckets, and locations you add to your inventory.
Microphone
Purpose: To capture audio for voice-based item search. The microphone is only activated when you initiate a voice search.
Photo Library (iOS only)
Purpose: To allow you to select existing photos from your device when adding or editing items, buckets, and locations.
Speech Recognition (iOS only)
Purpose: To convert your spoken words into search text using Apple's on-device speech recognition framework.
Internet Access
Purpose: To sync your inventory data with our servers and to authenticate your account.
We do not use your camera or microphone in the background. Permissions are only active while you are actively using the relevant feature.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Store and sync your inventory data across sessions
- Process item images, including AI-assisted background removal and similar item matching
- Enable voice-based item search
- Manage your subscription and enforce plan-based resource limits
- Respond to your requests, including password resets and email verification
- Ensure the security and integrity of our service, including content moderation of uploaded images
Content Moderation and Safety
To help keep the App safe and comply with platform rules and applicable law, we may use automated systems to scan uploaded images for content that may violate our policies, such as nudity, sexually explicit content, or suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation material. Content flagged by these systems may be restricted, removed, or subject to further review. Repeated or severe violations may result in warnings, temporary restrictions, suspension, or account deactivation.
DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
Your data is transmitted over HTTPS to our servers at asadapit.app. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your account and inventory data.
Locally on your device, the App stores:
- Your authentication token (to keep you logged in)
- A device identifier
- Temporary UI state (such as the last bucket you selected)
We retain your account and inventory data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us.
If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your account profile and associated inventory data, except for limited information we may need to retain for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or billing reconciliation.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including:
- The right to access the personal information we hold about you
- The right to correct inaccurate information
- The right to request deletion of your account and associated data
- The right to withdraw consent for specific processing activities
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
If you want to request deletion of your ASA? account and associated data outside the app, you may also use the account deletion web page on this website.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising networks, or crash reporting SDKs. The only third-party service used for data purposes is Google OAuth for authentication, as described in Section 5.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
